Memphis, get ready for some potential storms.
According to a forecast put out by the National Weather Service in Memphis, this weekend has a slight risk of thunderstorms and cold weather. While Jan. 8 temperatures are expected to be in the 70s, temperatures are then expected to drop and remain in the 40s and 50s the remainder of the weekend.
Overnight lows could be in the 20s or 30s.
“The primary threats remain damaging winds, with perhaps a brief tornado or two. Friday will bring a greater chance of excessive rainfall, mainly east and southeast of the Memphis metro area,” NWS Memphis said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Here is the weekend weather forecast from the National Weather Service in Memphis.
Friday weather
Jan. 9 is expected to be stormy. Highs will be in the lower 70s with an 80% chance of rain.
Friday night will be cloudy with showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms. Temperatures will be cooler, with lows around 50. There is an 80% chance of rain.
Saturday weather
Jan. 10 will be mostly cloudy in the morning but become partly sunny as the day goes on. It will be much cooler than Friday, with temperatures in the mid-50s.
Saturday night will be partly cloudy and much cooler, with temperatures in the lower 30s.
Sunday weather
Jan. 11 will be sunny and cooler, with temperature highs in the mid-40s. Sunday night will be mostly clear but cold. Temperature lows are expected to be in the mid-20s.
Monday weather
Jan. 12 will be sunny with temperature highs in the upper 40s. Monday night will be mostly clear in the evening, but will become partly cloudy. Temperature lows are expected to be in the lower 30s.
