Gusty winds in store for Las Vegas, thousands hit by power outages

We’re starting Thursday with active weather in Southern Nevada with rain, mountain snow & gusty winds moving into Clark County!

NV Energy reported that as of about 8:05 a.m. Thursday, multiple outages left more than 8,300 customers without power in Clark County.

TODAY: Expect partly cloudy skies with windy weather, morning rain/mountain snow chances and high temperatures reaching around 55 degrees in Las Vegas. Patchy blowing dust will also be possible in the afternoon as winds become stronger.

A WIND ADVISORY is in place until 10 p.m. tonight for sustained northwest winds 20-30 mph and wind gusts 40-50 mph. Gusts around 50 mph will especially be possible in neighborhoods like Summerlin, Centennial Hills & Mountain’s Edge.

Around 1″-3″ of snow is forecast above 4,500 feet in elevation from this system, along w/ isolated thunderstorms, valley rain chances & graupel.

TONIGHT: Skies will be mostly clear this evening with areas of patchy dust and much colder valley low temperatures in the low to mid 30s, the coldest temperatures of the season so far. Winds will continue out of the northwest, 15-25 mph.

WHAT’S NEXT: When you factor in the winds & temperature — it will feel like we are starting Friday morning off in the 20s and 30s across the valley.

On Friday, high temperatures will max out in the low 50s with north winds 10-15 mph and wind gusts around 25 mph.

High pressure builds in this weekend, allowing daytime temperatures to rebound to the upper 50s by Sunday.

Valley highs keep climbing next week with temps near the 70s next Wednesday & Thursday.
