Disney has picked a zombie and a Raven for its IRL Flynn Rider and Rapunzel. The live-action Tangled got a major update Wednesday when The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Teagan Croft and Milo Manheim will be playing the lead roles. Croft is best known as Raven on Titans, one of the only shows to make the jump from DC Universe to HBO Max. She also appeared on the Australian soap Home and Away, following in the footsteps of Chris Hemsworth and Isla Fisher.
Manheim played main zombie Zed in the Disney Channel Original Movie juggernaut Zombies franchise. He played opposite Liz Gillies in the Off Broadway run of Little Shop of Horrors. Also, he’s Camryn Manheim’s son. That’s a fun fact to know and tell. Michael Gracey, of The Greatest Showman and 2024’s most underrated movie, Better Man, fame, is directing the live-action Tangled. Kristin Burr (Freakier Friday, Cruella) is producing, and Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Do Revenge) is writing the script.
There have been rumors aplenty over who would actually land the live-action Rapunzel role. Deuxmoi wanted Sabrina Carpenter in the part, while fans suggested Keke Palmer do it “with 100 ft box braids.” Zachary Levi, who voiced Flynn Rider in the original film, wanted Timothée Chalamet to inherit his character. Now that’s dreaming big.
