Sports Seriously

There wasn’t a “Thursday Night Football” game in Week 18 of the 2025 NFL season. Will that change in the first round of the NFL playoffs?

Amazon Prime is set to broadcast a playoff game for the second consecutive season. While all but one of the streaming giant’s regular-season games was played on a Thursday – the lone exception being the network’s Black Friday game – that trend will not continue during the postseason.

Here’s what to know about the 2025 NFL playoff schedule and whether there will be a game on Thursday night.

Is there a Thursday Night Football game tonight?

There will not be a “Thursday Night Football” game played during the NFL playoffs – at least not one that will actually be played on a Thursday.

Amazon’s season-long slate of Thursday prime-time games came to an end in Week 17, when the Denver Broncos earned a 20-13 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs to close the NFL’s three-game Christmas slate. That marked the last NFL Thursday game until the 2025 regular-season opener in September.

That said, Amazon’s “TNF” crew still has one broadcast remaining. Al Michaels (play-by-play), Kirk Herbstreit (analyst) and Kaylee Hartung (sideline reporter) will be on the call for the Chicago Bears vs. Green Bay Packers playoff matchup on Saturday, Jan. 10 at 8 p.m. ET. It marks the second consecutive season Amazon has been given the rights to the Saturday night wild-card playoff game.

And those looking to satisfy their craving for any sort of Thursday football will be able to tune into the first College Football Playoff semifinal in place of the usual “Thursday Night Football” slate. ESPN will be broadcasting the Ole Miss vs. Miami (FL) at the Fiesta Bowl starting at 7:30 p.m. ET.
