The Gazette shines in the Eiffel Tower glow

The Eiffel Tower was originally conceived as a temporary centerpiece for the 1889 World’s Fair, but its value as a scientific and communications landmark ensured its preservation beyond the planned 1909 demolition. Last September, Dave and Kathy Farren paused beneath the iconic structure to read the Cape Gazette as they waited for the tower’s hourly “twinkles” to illuminate the Paris night.
