Xavier Lucas targeting: Miami football DB ejected in 4th quarter vs Ole Miss

Miami Hurricanes defensive back Xavier Lucas was called for targeting on a tackle during the fourth quarter of the Fiesta Bowl against Ole Miss on Jan. 8.
Miami had a 17-16 lead with under 10 minutes to play in the game. On a third-and-9 from Miami’s 47-yard line, Trindad Chambliss completed a pass to Cayden Lee for an 11-yard gain. But Lucas launched forward and made contact with Lee’s helmet on the stop.
Lucas was called for the penalty, which is subject to further review. After the video replay, the officials confirmed the call.
Thus, Lucas was ejected from the game and would be subject to a one-half suspension if Miami advances to the national championship game on Jan. 19 at their home field, Hard Rock Stadium.
