Cory Patterson guilty to pushing Schwa Chef Jose Duran onto CTA Blue Line tracks in November 2022

CHICAGO (WLS) — A man has pleaded guilty to pushing a Chicago chef onto the CTA Blue Line tracks in Wicker Park while on his way home from work.
Cory Patterson pleaded guilty to aggravated battery charges on Wednesday in a Chicago court.
The attack happened in November 2022.
Jose Duran was a chef at Schwa in Wicker Park at the time of the attack.
“I was waiting for my train at the Milwaukee and Division stop,” he previously told ABC7. “I just heard a ‘Hey!’ and then I was on the tracks.”
His jaw was wired shut for at least four weeks after the attack.
Bystanders helped a Duran up from the tracks, and police wrestled Patterson into custody.
Patterson also broke an officer’s nose in the process.
Duran narrowly missed the electrified third rail.
Patterson was sentenced to a total of 12 years; he will be given credit for nearly three years he already served.
He was initially charged with attempted murder, but that charge appeared to be dropped.
