Wrexham are gearing up for a major test of their Premier League potential as they prepare to face Nottingham Forest on Friday. Adding to the excitement, there’s buzz that co-owner and Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds might jet in for the game.
The FA Cup third-round matchup could turn an already impressive season into something truly extraordinary if Wrexham can make a deep run in the competition. Under the leadership of Phil Parkinson, the team has won their last four Championship games and are hot on the trail for promotion as they head into this clash.
A fourth consecutive promotion would not only make history but also add a pretty penny to Reynolds’ coffers. Mirror Football takes a peek into the Deadpool actor’s financial affairs as his club sets its sights on another major milestone.
Reynolds’ massive net worth
Reynolds’ savvy business ventures have been drawing considerable attention in recent years. The Canadian star has shown a knack for smart investments and is now estimated to have a net worth ranging between £300million and £336m.
A significant chunk of that valuation reportedly comes from his shares in Mint Mobile, which was snapped up by T-Mobile in 2023, with his stake said to be worth more than £200m. He also held a 20 per cent stake in Aviation Gin before it was bought out by liquor behemoth Diageo in a deal valued at around £450m.

Reynolds and Rob Mac (previously McElhenney) have since offloaded a portion of Wrexham to Apollo Sports Capital (ASC), marking another step up, with the club now valued at a whopping £350m. Earlier this year, the duo managed to recover £15m in loans from the club, and it’s transactions like these that make their business savvy clear.
And let’s not forget Reynolds’ main gig in the acting business. Projections estimate his annual earnings from acting roles to be around £100m, a sum comprised of new parts and residuals from past performances.
Furthermore, Reynolds played a pivotal role in thrusting Wrexham into the limelight, primarily via their FX show Welcome to Wrexham. This is yet another revenue stream where he and co-owner McElhenney will hold a larger stake, translating to a bigger slice of any profits made.
Hollywood divorce

Reynolds is blissfully wedded to actress Blake Lively, and they are parents to three daughters and one son. However, before Lively came into the picture, he was previously hitched to another Hollywood starlet, Scarlett Johansson.
The relationship kicked off shortly after his breakup with former fiancée Alanis Morissette and quickly escalated. Reynolds and Johansson announced their engagement just over a year after going public with their romance, and they tied the knot in September 2008.
The union wasn’t built to last, though, crumbling after barely two years when the couple announced their separation. By July 2011, the divorce was officially wrapped up, and just months later, Reynolds went public with his romance with Lively.
In May 2011, Reynolds admitted he was still “in pain” over the Johansson split and has kept mostly quiet about the relationship. Johansson, for her part, called Reynolds “a good guy” when his name popped up during a 2023 chat on Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop podcast.
UK relocation comments

With his legacy already cemented in Wrexham history, supporters of the Red Dragons are hungry to see more of Reynolds. It’s hardly surprising considering the club’s dramatic transformation under his leadership.
Talk of a permanent Atlantic crossing has bubbled up repeatedly in recent years. The Reynolds clan were even rumoured to have snapped up a £1.4m property in the north Wales village of Marford, though the actor himself quickly debunked those claims.
“I mean I’ve got four kids here in New York,” he explained during a 2023 sit-down on the Fearless to Devotion podcast. “There was an article that said I’d bought a home over there, but that was not accurate at all.
“Look, we love it, but to move our entire families over there, that would be a real act of superior black belt manipulation on my part. I can pull off a few things, but I don’t think I could pull that off.”
He later quipped: “But both my wife and I love coming over. But we both love going to California – and we don’t live there! Maybe one day, who knows.”
