Former BYU WR Keelan Marion shined for Miami in Fiesta Bowl win – Deseret News

Keelan Marion just had the game of his life.
The former BYU wide receiver and return specialist became a Miami hero Thursday night, leading the Hurricanes with seven receptions for 114 yards in a dramatic 31-27 Fiesta Bowl victory over Ole Miss.
Marion officially etched his place in Miami lore forever by hauling in a 52-yard touchdown from Carson Beck just before halftime, having broken through busted coverage to be wide open for a go-ahead score.
In addition to the viral touchdown, Marion had two catches on Miami’s game-winning drive, including a critical 17-yard grab on third down.
With the victory, Marion’s Hurricanes will advance to the national championship game for the first time since 2003, where they will face the winner of Friday’s Peach Bowl between Oregon and Indiana.
Since transferring to Miami from BYU last year during the spring portal window, Marion has caught 56 passes for 740 yards and two touchdowns, serving as a complementary weapon alongside Hurricanes standout freshman receiver Malachi Toney.
In two seasons with the Cougars, Marion recorded 1,563 all-purpose yards with eight total touchdowns, most memorably returning kickoffs for touchdowns in 2024 on the road against both Wyoming and Utah.
