Famous family feud: What is going on with the Beckhams?

In the hours before writing this, I’d been racking my brain to try and think of a more famous family in the UK than the Beckhams.

Admittedly they’re second to the Royal Family, but apart from them, I’m not sure there is anyone else in the Beckhams’ league of celebrity status.

However, the column inches and online posts dedicated to their every movement have in recent years been mostly centred on the alleged feud between Sir David and Victoria Beckham and their eldest son Brooklyn.

Now, this article is going to contain the words “allegedly” and “reportedly” quite a lot, because neither David and Victoria, nor Brooklyn, have publicly acknowledged the reported spat.

That being said, there has been enough smoke surrounding the Beckhams’ actions to have us believe that there must be a fire somewhere.

And that fire is burning red hot right now…”allegedly”.

It’s being reported in The Sun that 26-year-old Brooklyn sent his parents a legal letter at the end of last summer, instructing them to only contact him via lawyers.

Last month, Brooklyn took this one step further by blocking his immediate family on Instagram.

The blocking came after Victoria liked an Instagram video in which her aspiring-chef son roasted a chicken…no, I am not joking.

Multiple media outlets are saying that Brooklyn’s legal letter included tagging and liking on social media.

Victoria is said to have violated this with her double-tap on her son’s poultry post, hence the blocking.

Then, just before Christmas, came the first time that a Beckham addressed the rumoured rift.

Cruz Beckham (Posh and Becks’ third son and Brooklyn’s younger brother), reposted a tabloid article which claimed that David and Victoria had unfollowed their eldest offspring.

Cruz snapped back writing: “Not True, My mum and dad would never unfollow their son. Let’s get the facts right. They woke up blocked…as did I.”

If you’ve made it this far…congratulations, I’m not too far from wrapping up. I’m just going to dip into some of the reasons for the (alleged) feud.

Some have speculated that it began in 2022 at the opulent wedding of Brooklyn Beckham and his wife Nicole Peltz.

Quick history lesson: Nicola is American, she’s an actress and her dad is a billionaire. Oh, and her birthday is January 9 – strangely, the exact day I am writing this.

The animosity is rumoured to have started after Nicola chose not to wear a Victoria Beckham-designed wedding dress on her big day.

A source told The Sun that Brooklyn wants to “try and make amends privately not publicly.”

Adding: “He felt his parents continued to ignore his wishes and kept mentioning him online instead of reaching out privately.”

Neither David and Victoria Beckham, nor Brooklyn, replied to ITV News’ request for comment.

The Beckhams are reported to have not spoken with their eldest son and his wife in 13 months.

Whatever the exact details of the feud are, it seems there’s tumbleweeds in the Beckham family group chat right now.
