‘Godzilla Minus Zero’ Sets Fall Theatrical Release

The Toho and GKids sequel, Godzilla Minus Zero, will hit North American theaters on Nov. 6 following its premiere in Japan on Nov. 3.

Director/screenwriter Takashi Yamazaki returns for the follow-up to the Godzilla Minus One which minted north of $116M and won Best Visual Effects at the 96th Academy Awards, becoming the first Asian film to take home the award.

The release date of Nov. 3 holds a special significance in Godzilla’s storied legacy, marking the date of the original theatrical release of Godzilla in 1954.

Godzilla Minus One opened to $11.4M stateside and went on to make north of $57M at the domestic B.O. A remastered black and white version of the film received a one week play in late January 2024 in the states after playing Japan earlier that month.

“GKIDS is proud to bring Godzilla Minus Zero to North American audiences, following the incredible global reception of Godzilla Minus One,” said David Jesteadt, President at GKIDS. “This next chapter is sure to become another defining moment for the most colossal monster ever to dominate the screen. It is only fitting that this bold, new Godzilla event be experienced in its fullest theatrical glory, and we’re honored that TOHO has entrusted us to carry this legacy forward.”

Godzilla Minus Zero marks GKIDS’ second stewardship of a Godzilla franchise film from TOHO for North American release, following TOHO’s acquisition of GKIDS in 2024.
