Chelsea Gray hit the winning 3-pointer to lift Rose BC over Vinyl BC, 69-67, in the first game of Friday’s Unrivaled doubleheader.
“I was going to shoot the 3, 100 percent,” Gray said when asked about the play. “I had just knocked one down.”
Indeed, Gray hit back-to-back 3s in the closing moments to secure the victory. Rose had trailed by as many as seven points in the fourth quarter.
“It’s having pride out there and having fun doing it,” said Gray, who had 23 points to help Rose to a 2-0 start. “As long as we keep fighting, we got a chance.”
Teammate Shakira Austin added a double-double off the bench with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Azurá Stevens had 13 points.
Rhyne Howard had 28 points and Dearica Hamby added 19 for the Vinyl, who are 0-2.
