Everton are eyeing a move for Arsenal defender Ben White to solve their problematic right-back issue, sources have told Football Insider.

The Merseysiders are keeping close tabs on the England international, 28, and are open to a deal this month.

That could be difficult to pull off, as Arsenal are likely to be resistant to selling a senior player mid-season, even though White has made only four Premier League starts among his 12 appearances this term.

White has a contract at Arsenal that runs until the summer of 2028, and includes the option of a further 12 months.

White has fallen down the Arsenal pecking order after injury woes

White joined Arsenal from Brighton in 2021, and he has gone on to appear 172 times for the club so far over the last four-and-a-half seasons.

He was Mikel Arteta‘s first choice right-back in his first three seasons at the club, but the arrival of Jurrien Timber and recent injury woes have seen him fall out of favour.

Sources told Football Insider last month that Arsenal were not planning to let White leave in the January window, but his latest injury concerns may have changed those plans.

White suffered a hamstring problem against Wolves on 13 December, and he has only featured for seven minutes off the bench in the three games that he has been back fit for.

His struggle for game time could see him push for a loan move for the second half of the campaign, with Everton waiting in the wings to pounce if he becomes available.

Everton to walk away from Jayden Bogle move after his exit stance was revealed

The Toffees are in desperate need of cover across their backline, with injuries to Jarrad Branthwaite and Seamus Coleman leaving them short as it stands.

Football Insider revealed last month that Everton had set their sights on Leeds’ Jayden Bogle, amid his impressive form from right-back over the last 18 months.

Despite their continued interest, sources have now told Football Insider that Bogle does not plan on leaving Leeds this month because he is happy at Elland Road.

His denial has left Everton searching for new targets, and so White could well be on his way to the Hill Dickinson Stadium soon if Arsenal are open to letting him depart.
