What Happened to Parker Washington? Latest Update on Jaguars WR’s Injury and Whether He’ll Return

With the Jacksonville Jaguars hosting the Buffalo Bills in an AFC Wild Card game at home, the team and quarterback Trevor Lawrence hoped to have all of their wide receivers healthy.

It started out that way, but Jaguars wide receiver Parker Washington suffered an injury in the first quarter.

What Happened to Jaguars WR Parker Washington?

Washington, who has been targeted twice by Lawrence in the game in the first half, left the field and went to the Jaguars’ locker room.

Cameron Wolfe, National NFL reporter for the NFL Network, indicated that Washington was being checked out for a concussion at this time.

While Washington is getting checked out, Lawrence will have to target his other wide receivers. At this moment, Washington’s return to the game remains up in the air.

According to the PFSN NFL Offense Impact Metric, the Jaguars’ offense had an impact score of 76.6 and was graded a C in the regular season. As for Lawrence, he was the 16th-best QB according to the QB Impact Metric. He had a 77.6 impact score and was graded a C+.

As for the Jaguars’ offensive line, they finished 25th on PFSN’s OL Impact Metric in the regular season. The O-line had an impact score of 67.0 and graded out to a D.

What about Washington, according to the PFSN NFL WR Impact Metric? He finished the regular season with a 79.0 impact score and graded out to a C+. Washington had 58 catches for 847 yards and five touchdown receptions. He was targeted 95 times by Lawrence during the regular season, too.

Washington was a sixth-round draft pick in the 2023 NFL Draft by the Jaguars out of Penn State, where he played under former head coach James Franklin. In three seasons with Jacksonville, Washington has 106 catches for 1,369 career receiving yards and 10 touchdown catches.

He’s one of those receivers that Lawrence feels comfortable in targeting throughout games. Should Washington not be able to return, that’s going to take another pass-game element away from the Jaguars’ quarterback.

But wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. caught a touchdown pass from Lawrence in the second quarter, putting the Jaguars up 7-3 over Josh Allen and the Bills. Let’s see if Lawrence can use Thomas and other receivers while waiting to see what happens with Washington.

#UPDATE: Washington was cleared to return in the second quarter of the game.
