Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen did not know it at the time, but the moment he cried watching his wife and actress Hailee Steinfeld shine in a major film production that grossed approximately $368 million worldwide would come second to one of the most life-changing stretches of his NFL career.

In October, the Buffalo Bills’ four-game winning streak came to an end after they lost two consecutive games to the New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons, marking their only back-to-back losses of the season. The Bills finished the regular season 12-5, second in the AFC East, and open their postseason Sunday on the road against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Right after the losses, Allen opened up about watching Steinfeld’s performance as Mary in the film Sinners that paired her with Michael B. Jordan and earned her an Elle Women in Hollywood Award for Woman of the Year.

Steinfeld earned an Actors Awards nomination for Outstanding Cast in a Motion Picture and multiple nods for Best Supporting Actress.

Allen admitted the experience overwhelmed him emotionally and said he thought his wife “absolutely killed it.”

“I was just so proud of her,” Allen said to the NFL Network. “I get emotional thinking about it, but it was a pretty cool experience.”

“I’m just there trying to support her, in whatever way that I can,” he continued. “And that was her moment, and I’m so glad she got to shine.”

Two months later, Steinfeld announced she is expecting a baby with the reigning NFL MVP. The announcement came with a video on the actresses’ Substack that showed Allen kissing his wife’s baby bump.

Both reposted the video on their respective Instagram accounts and received an outpouring of positivity on social media. Steinfeld and Allen have not yet announced an official due date or baby name to NFL fans.

The Bills’ quarterback played four contests in December against the Cincinnati Bengals, New England Patriots, Cleveland Browns, and Philadelphia Eagles, and lost just one narrow game, 13-12, against Philly at home in a matchup fans suggested had “bogus” officiating.

That month also saw Allen post his second-highest passer rating of the season (109.5), nearly matching his September mark of 109.7, and the only month of his season without an interception.

Allen has thrown for 3,359 yards, 25 touchdowns, and just four interceptions across 13 career postseason games, adding 668 rushing yards and seven more scores.

The Bills’ quarterback has a 7-6 postseason record and has reached the playoffs every season except his rookie year in 2018.
