No. 2 Buckeyes Blank No. 23 Indiana, 45-0

COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 2 Ohio State (12-0, 1-0) shutout visiting No. 23 Indiana (5-2, 0-1) Sunday in the Big Ten opener at the Covelli Center. The Buckeyes recorded seven bonus-point victories in the 45-0 victory.
It was the first shutout for the Buckeyes in the series history against the Hoosiers. Ohio State last recorded a shutout against at Hofstra (Nov. 19, 2023/51-0) in the final of three-consecutive shutouts vs. Edinboro (Nov. 12, 2023/53-0), at Columbia (Nov. 19, 2023/49-0). The last Big Ten team that failed to score against the Buckeyes was Maryland (Jan. 31, 2021/41-0) in College Park, Maryland. Ohio State last shutout a Big Ten opponent at home Feb. 2, 1979, a 52-0 win over Purdue.
125 – (3) Nic Bouzakis (OSU) def. (12) Jacob Moran (IND), MD, 11-2
Bouzakis scored the first takedown of the Big Ten Conference season a minute into the opening match. He then built about 90 seconds of riding time and went to the second period up 3-1. Bouzakis chose bottom and quickly escaped to make it 4-1. Another takedown late in the second put the Buckeyes up 7-1 after two periods. Moran earned an escape early in the third to make it 7-2. Bouzakis added a late takedown and a point for riding time to win by major decision, 11-2.

133 – (2) Ben Davino (OSU) def. Logan Frazier (IND), TF, 18-3
A quick takedown and two-point nearfall put Davino up 5-1 after a Frazier escape. Davino led 11-2 after three minutes. Davino took bottom to open the second, escaped and added a takedown for a 15-2 advantage. The Buckeyes took the match by technical fall with a an 18-3 win in the second period.
141 – (1) Jesse Mendez (OSU) def. Lucas Peters (IND), TF 17-2
Mendez wasted not time in building a 17-2 advantage to win by technical fall to add five points to the Ohio State team score.

Stiles took control of the bout and recorded the pin at 2:54 of the opening period.

157 – (2) Brandon Cannon (OSU) def. Bryce Lowery (IND), MD, 19-9
Cannon earned a takedown at the edge of the mat near the Indiana bench for a 3-0 lead. Lowery countered with a reversal. Cannon escaped before Lowery took a 5-4 lead with a takedown. Cannon started from bottom to open the second and scored a reversal for a 6-5 lead. Lowery escaped before a Cannon takedown made it 9-6 Buckeyes going to the third. Lowery escaped and Cannon added a takedown for a 12-8 lead. Cannon added another takedown and then another to win 19-9 by major decision.
165 – e’Than Birden (OSU) def. (20) Tyler Lillard (IND), D, 2-1
There was no score in the opening period. Birden escaped for a 1-0 lead to open the second. Birden was awarded a point on an IU stalling call for a 2-0 advantage after two periods. Lillard escaped early in the third to make it 2-1. Birden hung on to win in the third by decision, 2-1.
174 – (4) Carson Kharchla (OSU) def. Derek Gilcher (IND), D, 11-7
Kharchla put together a pair of early takedowns for a 6-1 lead. The bout went to the second with Kharchla leading 9-3. Gilcher scored a takedown and after a Kharchla escape, the match went to the third with Ohio State leading 10-7. Kharchla escaped with a minute left for an 11-7 win by decision.
184 – (6) Dylan Fishback (OSU) def. (14) Sam Goin (IND), F, 2:23
Fishback started with a takedown about 60 seconds into the match for a 3-0 lead. Goin escaped, Fishback scored a takedown and got the pin at 2:23.

197 – (13) Luke Geog (OSU) def. (13) Gabe Sollars (IND), D, 7-5
Geog went on the attack first and scored a takedown for a 3-1 lead after the first. Sollars added an escape before a Geog takedown made it 6-2 early in the second. The third started with Geog leading 6-3. Geog earned an escape and held on to win by decision, 7-5.
