Why Michelle Williams, Regina Hall and Cynthia Erivo Missed Golden Globes 2026

The show must go on.
And in the case of the Golden Globes 2026, host Nikki Glaser kicked off the Jan. 11 ceremony at The Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles with several notable celebs missing from star-studded audience. (Click here to see all the red carpet arrivals.)
Michelle Williams was noticeably MIA after winning the award for Best Female Actor – Television – Limited Series, Anthology Series or Television Motion Picture for her role in Dying for Sex, as she’s instead in New York performing in the play Anna Christie.
Likewise, E! News can confirm Billy Crudup was on stage in London, which is why he was absent despite his nomination in the Best Supporting Male Actor – Television category for The Morning Show.
As for One Battle After Another actress Regina Hall, she missed the ceremony because she was under the weather, though she still earned a sweet shoutout from director Paul Thomas Anderson, who won Best Screenplay – Motion Picture.
“Regina, who can’t be with us here tonight, she’s not feeling well,” he shared in his speech, “she’s one of the first people I gave this script to. She’s been with from the beginning. Great collaborator.”
