Man Utd news: Wheatley recalled from Northampton loan

Manchester United forward Ethan Wheatley has been recalled from his loan spell at Northampton Town.
Wheatley scored three goals in 25 appearances for the Cobblers and is expected to go out on loan elsewhere for the second half of the season.
The 19-year-old, who signed a contract to 2028 in March 2025, had a loan spell in League Two with Walsall last term, but featured only four times for the Saddlers.
He made three Premier League appearances off the bench for the Red Devils in the 2023-24 season and featured for England at the Under-19 European Championships in the summer, scoring two goals in three appearances.
“We are disappointed Ethan has been recalled but we are proud of the work we have done with him and believe he leaves us a far better player than he arrived,” said Northampton manager Kevin Nolan.
“We thank Manchester United for loaning Ethan to us and wish him well for his future career.”
