Air Canada says crew member was trapped in cargo hold of flight from Toronto Pearson

A crew member of a recent Air Canada flight from Toronto to Moncton, N.B. was accidentally locked in the cargo hold before the plane took off.

In a statement to CTV News, a spokesperson for the airline said the incident occurred on Dec. 13 on a flight AC 1502. They said the doors to the plane were “inadvertently closed” while a member of the ground crew was inside. They were not injured.

“Upon discovery the aircraft returned to the gate and the doors opened,” they said in an email. The flight was cancelled, according to flight tracking website FlightAware.

The incident is under investigation, according to Air Canada.
