DOWNEY, Calif. (KABC) — Several incidents involving immigration agents were reported on Saturday in Downey, including activity captured on video in a Home Depot parking lot.

Video shows immigration agents speeding away from the parking lot, followed by people running through the area after the vehicles left the scene. It was not immediately clear whether anyone was detained or why the agents targeted that specific Home Depot.

Authorities have not released further details about the incidents.

Downey Mayor Claudia M. Frometa addressed the situation in a statement, emphasizing the city’s stance on community safety.

“Our priority is the safety and dignity of every member of our community. We support the rule of law while ensuring that the rights of all residents are upheld. Our immigrant neighbors are an essential part of our city’s life. We encourage the community to review the City’s ‘know-your-rights’ webpage and ask for cooperation in maintaining a safe environment for all by not interfering in federal operations,” the statement said.
