Alabama football lands Michigan offensive tackle from transfer portal

Ty Haywood will end up at Alabama after all.
The one time Crimson Tide commit who then signed with Michigan has decided to transfer to Alabama,
Haywood is a 6-foot-5, 316-pound offensive lineman from Denton, Texas. He spent his freshman season with the Wolverines in 2025, playing in three games and logging 15 snaps against Central Michigan, Maryland and Texas.
Haywood was a four-star recruit in the 2025 class, per the 247Sports Composite. He was the No. 39 player overall and No. 6 offensive tackle. Haywood committed to Alabama on July 14, 2024 before decommiting from the Crimson Tide on Jan. 13, 2025. Then he committed to the Wolverines on Feb. 5, 202
Haywood is the latest offensive lineman from Michigan to join Alabama via the transfer portal. The Crimson Tide also secured a commitment from interior offensive lineman Kaden Strayhorn earlier in January.
Alabama is in the process of rebuilding its offensive line. Six of seven players who received starting opportunities in 2025 will not return for another year. Kadyn Proctor and Parker Brailsford are both off to the next level. Wilkin Formby entered the transfer portal. Jaeden Roberts, Geno VanDeMark and Kam Dewberry all ran out of eligibility. Reserves Olaus Alinen, Joseph Ionata, Roq Montgomery, Micah DeBose and Arkel Anugwom also decided to enter the portal.
The transfer portal is scheduled to remain open through Jan. 16.
