Panthers’ Tkachuk, Marchand remain out against Sabres

Matthew Tkachuk and Brad Marchand remain out of the lineup for Monday’s game against the Buffalo Sabres, head coach Paul Maurice told reporters.

Maurice said both would participate in practice on Wednesday.

“We can do more in a practice that’s more game-like. … We can get some timing done with them, and hopefully we’ll see those guys soon,” he said.

Tkachuk hasn’t played since Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final due to injuries he sustained while playing for Team USA in the 4 Nations Face-Off last February.

The 28-year-old went through the summer trying to rehab but eventually decided that he needed the surgery.

Marchand left Tuesday night’s game against the Toronto Maple Leafs after a big hit from Bobby McMann near the end of the second period.

After the loss, Maurice said Marchand “has been dealing with something, and it got to the point where we didn’t want to make it worse.”

The 37-year-old has 23 goals and 23 assists through 41 games this season.
