Developer of 24 Publix stores in US tapped to transform Louisville’s Mid City Mall property | Business

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The family that owns the Mid City Mall property between Bardstown Road and Baxter Avenue in Louisville will partner with an Atlanta-based developer that operates two dozen Publix properties around the country.
According to our partners at Louisville Business First, Branch Properties will soon come in on a joint venture with the Metts family, the current owners of the longtime Mid City Mall property.
Earlier this year, redevelopment plans for Mid City mall were released, which included plans to find a development company to buy the property.
Brant Properties has a portfolio of 34 properties nationwide, and 24 of those feature a Publix.
Several businesses within Mid City Mall have already closed or moved. Ramen House Louisville moved to a location on Spring Street. The Nearly New Shop closed in September. The iconic Back Door Bar closed in May 2024, after the passing of longtime owner John Dant.
The Mid City Mall has been for sale since November 2024. The site is currently owned by the Bardstown Road Investment Co. and the David A. Metts Irrevocable Term Trust. It is assessed for tax purposes at $11.4 million.
