UFC Vegas 114: Elijah Smith vs. SuYoung You: Prediction
With his power and explosiveness, I predict a TKO/KO victory for Smith over You. The American fighter has enormous strength for the 135-pound weight class, and Smith showcased this when he picked up Toshiomi Kazama and slammed him down on the canvas in his previous fight.
Smith’s entire striking repertoire wasn’t on display during that fight because he was defending submission attempts, but I guarantee that in this fight with You, the South Korean who’s a fellow striker, Smith will be able to throw a lot more variety.
Expect flying knees, spinning backfists, and other striking techniques from Smith, who aims to fast-track his ascent to the upper echelon of the bantamwight division and crack a spot in the top-15 rankings.
Elijah Smith’s Recent Fight Results
Smith was an MMA prospect outside of the UFC before he joined Dana White’s Contender Series in September 2024. He scored a unanimous decision against Aaron Tau to secure a UFC contract. Smith has since swept his first two bouts in the promotion with victories over Vince Morales and Kazama.
SuYoung You’s Recent Fight Results
You is a a former Black Combat in South Korea and Road to UFC champion. In his first three fights under the Las Vegas-based promotion, the South Korean native has scored wins over Baergeng Jieleyisi, AJ Cunningham, and, most recently, Xiao Long.
