Stanford Live and Stanford Athletics, in conjunction with Live Nation, announce two performances on May 16 and 17, 2026, by pop royalty BTS at Stanford Stadium. The Stanford dates are part of the group’s long-awaited return to the stage and largest world tour to date, spanning 34 regions with 79 shows. Notably, the tour will feature a 360-degree, in-the-round stage design. The immersive setup places the audience at the center of the experience while allowing for increased capacity at every venue.
These performances underscore Stanford’s commitment to the role of music in shaping global contemporary culture, and to the unique capacity of universities to convene transformative shared experiences for students and the broader community. The group will become just the second musical act to perform at Stanford Stadium, following Coldplay’s inaugural shows last year.
“Presenting these artists allows us to engage with global perspectives and voices shaping contemporary culture,” says Deborah Cullinan, Vice President for the Arts at Stanford. “It is a powerful opportunity to bring students, artists, and the broader community together through shared cultural experiences rooted in Stanford’s values of openness, creativity, and connection.”
“We are thrilled for the opportunity to once again showcase Stanford Stadium as a destination for world-class entertainment,” said John Donahoe, Stanford’s Jaquish & Kenninger Director and Chair of Athletics. “Building off the momentum from last year’s highly successful Coldplay concerts, we are extremely proud to welcome BTS to our signature venue and provide another unique experience for the Stanford community.”
The shows on the tour mark BTS’ first headline performances as a group since their celebrated 2021–2022 ‘PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE’ tour, which spanned 12 shows across Seoul, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles. As one of the first K-pop groups to achieve true global crossover success and shatter attendance and gross records worldwide, BTS continue to redefine what’s possible for the genre with this massive stadium tour.

ABOUT STANFORD STADIUM
Stanford Stadium is a versatile venue that has hosted a wide array of events, including nearly 87,000 patrons combined over a two-day stretch last spring for Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres World Tour. With a seating capacity of 50,424, it is home to the Stanford Cardinal football program and a variety of campus events, including the university’s annual Commencement ceremony in June. Stanford Stadium’s rich history includes the 1928 moment when Herbert Hoover, a former Stanford football student manager, delivered his acceptance speech as the Republican presidential candidate. In 1962, amidst the Cold War tensions, track coach Payton Jordan brought the USA-USSR dual meet to the stadium. The venue also hosted the 1985 Super Bowl between the San Francisco 49ers and Miami Dolphins, served as the site for six soccer matches during the 1994 World Cup, and, in 2017, the Stanford Concert Network presented a performance by DJ and music producer Zedd.
