Patriots Reportedly Signing Recently Released Texans Defender With 24.5 Sacks

The New England Patriots host the Houston Texans on Sunday in the Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs.
The Texans have a ferocious defense, and Drake Maye and company will have their hands full. However, the offense led by C.J. Stroud is no joke. The Patriots’ defense looked great last week and will be looking to play well again. However, the team is bringing in some more help.
According to Ian Rapoport, the Patriots are signing defensive end Darrell Taylor to the practice squad, with a “strong possibility” of elevating him for the playoffs. He was waived by the Texans earlier this week.
He was the No. 48 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks. He missed his entire rookie season, and in three years with the Seahawks, he started 13 of 49 games. He had 21 1/2 sacks, five forced fumbles and three passes defended.
The Seahawks traded him to the Chicago Bears before the 2024 season. He had three sacks for the Bears and signed a one-year deal with the Texans before this season. He has appeared in just four games and does not have a sack on the season.

The Patriots’ pass rush looked fine against the Los Angeles Chargers, with Milton Williams and K’Lavon Chaisson each recording two sacks. Taylor provides the Patriots with some more depth.
