Sergio Garcia responds to PGA Tour offer to LIV Golf stars

Fireballs captain Sergio Garcia has made peace with Brooks Koepka’s decision. But there’s another concern…

Sergio Garcia has offered his verdict on the news that has blown the golf world wide open.

A couple of days after applying for membership, former LIV golfer Brooks Koepka confirmed that he had accepted his punishment from Ponte Vedra Beach HQ and would be rejoining the PGA Tour as a full-time member.

But it didn’t end there. The way the Tour worked its way out of any potential legal issues was to add a new clause that allowed winners of any major since 2022 to rejoin with the same penalty.

That put LIV golfers Jon Rahm, Bryson DeChambeau and Cam Smith in the spotlight.

But while that particular trio was kept at arm’s length from the baying media, others were happy to discuss the matter.

For Sergio Garcia – the Fireballs captain and one of LIV’s biggest cheerleaders since making the move – losing Koepka is not a concern. Losing anyone else, though, and it might be a different outlook altogether.

“I hope Brooks enjoys it, and hopefully he plays well,” the Spaniard told TG at the LIV Golf 2026 preview week in West Palm Beach, Florida.

“He’s trying to do whatever is best for his family, just like we all did when we came here, and I don’t blame them for that.

“But it doesn’t affect me. If I wasn’t happy, I wouldn’t be here.

“Obviously we want to have Jon [Rahm], and DJ, and Bryson [DeChambeau], and Cam [Smith], and Joaco [Niemann], and everyone that is here, we want them to stay, because they bring so much to the league. But at the end of the day, it’s everyone’s own decision.

“Whatever they do, you have to respect it, because it’s their life. But obviously we hope that they don’t go anywhere.“

Back to his own Fireballs team, the heavily-rumored rebrand to Real Club de Toros GC for his all-Spanish side is not happening. For now, at least.

“We’re looking at it carefully,” he explained. “We’ve got lots of different possibilities, but we’re not quite there yet.”

When asked if the team would be remaining as Fireballs GC for the 2026 season, Garcia nodded and replied: “Yes.”

Garcia also confirmed that he will be teeing up on the DP World Tour ahead of the new LIV season.

“I’m going to play Bahrain the week before Riyadh, and then Adelaide,” he confirmed. “I’ll start there, and then we’ll see, as the year goes on, where I can play.”

With the Ryder Cup in mind?

“It’s always in mind,” he smiled.
