January is the perfect time to get cosy on the sofa and curl up in front of the TV as the newest crime thriller hits the screens, and tonight we’ll be watching the next episode of the new season of Patience on Channel 4.
This season Patience (Ella Maisy Purvis) the autistic archivist is continuing to assist the police in their investigations, but this time around there’s a new DI on the scene and she’s not so interested in Patience’s help. However, it’s not all workplace politics as there’s romance on the horizon for Patience and Elliot, and Patience also discovers a secret connection that will change her world forever.

Who is Patience Evans?: Leading the series once again is main character Patience, an autistic woman who works in Criminal Records and gets brought into help the police solve cases. This season she’s got to navigate a new boss on the police force and her growing romantic feelings for one of her colleagues.
What else has Ella Maisy Purvis been in?: Prior to appearing in Patience, Ella was best known for starring in the series A Kind of Spark. She’s also starred in the series Bergerac and Malpractice.
Nathan Welsh as DS Jake Hunter

Who is DS Jake Hunter?: DS Jake Hunter is new DI Frankie’s deputy at the police force. He’s always been protective of Patience and tries to ease the relationship between Frankie and Patience, who have a bit of friction.
What else has Nathan Welsh been in?: Over the years Nathan Welsh has appeared in episodes of Shetland, Culprits, Trying, Trust Me and starred in the movie The Ledge.
Mark Benton as DCI Calvin Baxter

Who is DCI Calvin Baxter?: DCI Calvin Baxter is in charge of the whole team and particularly for keeping Frankie in line when she first joins.
What else has Mark Benton been in?: Mark is best known for starring in TV series such as Waterloo Road, Barbara, Shakespeare & Hathaway: Private Investigators and Early Doors, amongst many others.
Ali Ariaie as DC Will Akbari

Who is DC Will Akbari?: DC Will Akbari is another member of the police and gets on well with Jake.
What else has Ali Ariaie been in?: Outside of his role in Patience, Ali is best known for starring in the TV series The Great where he played Raskolvy. He’s also appeared in episodes of The Couple Next Door, Death in Paradise and Doctor Who.
Tom Lewis as Elliot Scott

Who is Elliot Scott?: Elliot is a crime scene officer and will have a major role this season as his romantic relationship with Patience starts.

Adrian Rawlins as Douglas Gilmour

Who is Douglas Gilmour?: Douglas is a former police officer and was friends with Patience’s father. After her father passed away, Douglas became Patience’s godfather.

Who is DI Frankie Monroe?: New for season two is DI Frankie Monroe, a new DI for the force, who turns up a week early and certainly ruffles some feathers. At first she doesn’t understand Patience’s role within the team. Can this all change as the season progresses?
What else has Jessica Hynes been in?: Jessica is best known for her role of Cheryl in The Royle Family. She’s also known for starring in Shaun of The Dead, Spaced, W1A, the Paddington movies, Miss Austen and the Nativity movies amongst many other projects.
