Here’s all we know about the closure on the M60 motorway this morning
- Part of the M60 is fully shut this morning amid flooding on the motorway. A stretch of the anticlockwise side of the motorway is closed from junction 17 for Prestwich and Whitefield to junction 14 for the East Lancashire Road.
- There are long queues with heavy traffic up to the closure on the M60. Queues are stretching back onto the M60 westbound.
- National Highways said the flooding on the carriageway is between junctions 16 and 15, within a planned overnight closure for roadworks. The road was due to reopen at 5am, however it remains shut to traffic due to the flooding.
- The flooding is not related to the roadworks but is due to a burst pipe, United Utilities said. The burst has been ‘isolated’ and a clean-up operation is underway.
- United Utilities apologised for the inconvenience. National Highways have urged drivers to allow for extra time due to the closure this morning.
