Finn to win! Kiwi star belts staggering 51-ball century in BBL barrage — LIVE

Scorchers superstar Finn Allen has belted a monumental century, reaching triple figures off only 51 balls before being dismissed for 101 against the Renegades.

A win locks in another BBL finals appearance for the Perth franchise, while their Melbournec counterparts will be ruing their decision to bowl first after winning the bat flip.

The damaging Kiwi’s century included eight maximums and five boundaries, with the Scorchers finishing their innings with 7-219.

“He has absolutely whacked them… this man is an absolute jet,” Mark Howard said.

While Mike Hussey added: “That’s a wonderful innings… what a great batting performance from the Scorchers”.

Heading into the clash, Australian Test player Josh Inglis was rested from the Marvel Stadium fixture as he prepares for next month’s T20 World Cup in India, with the Scorchers opting for just a 13-man squad in their travels to Victoria.

As for the Renegades, they welcome back Ashes quick Brendan Doggett from hamstring awareness into their playing XI, with left-arm wrist-spinner Callum Stow and veteran quick Andrew Tye released from their initial squad.

The hosts are all but certain to miss finals this campaign, needing a number of improbable wins and results to fall their way to even be a chance.

For the Scorchers though, the Hobart Hurricanes’ shock loss on Wednesday night means the minor premiership is still possible heading into tonight.

Melbourne Renegades’ XI: Josh Brown, Tim Seifert, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Muhammad Rizwan (wk), Harry Dixon, Hassan Khan, Will Sutherland (c), Sam Elliott, Gurinder Sandhu, Brendan Doggett, Adam Zampa

Perth Scorchers’ 13-man squad: Mitch Marsh, Finn Allen, Cooper Connolly, Aaron Hardie, Ashton Turner (c), Laurie Evans (wk), Nick Hobson, Jhye Richardson, Luke Holt, David Payne, Mahli Beardman
