Chelsea star’s loan to be terminated with immediate effect before joining rivals

But the arrangement has been cut short after only a handful of games for the Argentine attacking midfielder, 21.

Buonanotte has played eight games across all competitions this season, scoring once against Lincoln City in the Carabao Cup.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are now poised to cut his loan move short and send him back to the Seagulls.

A temporary switch to Leeds is also being lined up, which would send Buonanotte to Elland Road just four months after he swerved it for Stamford Bridge.

The tricky playmaker was one of the exciting teenage recruits Brighton picked up in 2023.

He went straight into the first team on the South Coast and played 50 senior games in his first two seasons.

But Buonanotte hasn’t had a look-in since Brighton appointed Fabian Hurzeler in the summer of 2024.

He was shipped off to Leicester last season, scoring six goals in 35 appearances as they were relegated from the top flight.

And a surprise summer move to Chelsea has not worked out.

Buonanotte shared his excitement about playing Champions League football for the first time upon landing at the Bridge – only to be left out of Chelsea’s European squad two days later.

He was later added in and featured against Benfica, Ajax and Qarabag.

New Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior has plenty of options out wide and in attacking midfield with the likes of Cole Palmer, Estevao and Pedro Neto.

Leeds will hope Buonanotte can sure up their Premier League survival bid, having build up an eight-point buffer between themselves and the drop zone with 17 games to go.
