Swim & Dive to Honor 12 Seniors at Friday’s Senior Day Meet Against Mount St. Mary’s

WASHINGTON – The American University swimming & diving senior class of 2026 will compete in its last home meet on Friday, Jan. 16, against Mount St. Mary’s at 4 p.m. Prior to the meet, 12 seniors will be recognized during a Senior Day ceremony at 3:50 p.m. on the pool deck. It’s an important tune-up for AU, with just two more meets remaining prior to the Patriot League Championships in February.

- Friday’s meet will be broadcast live on YouTube.
- Events will occur in the following order: Senior Ceremony (3:50 p.m.), 3-Meter Diving, 200 Medley Relay, 1000 Freestyle, 200 Freestyle, 50 Freestyle, 200 Individual Medley, Break | 1-Meter Diving, 100 Butterfly, 100 Freestyle, 100 Backstroke, 500 Freestyle, 100 Breaststroke, 200 Freestyle Relay.

- Standard hourly garage rates apply from 8 am-10 pm in the Katzen Arts Center and School of International Service garages.
Last Time Against Mount St. Mary’s
- American and Mount St. Mary’s last met in October of 2023 in Emmitsburg, and the women’s team came away with a dual meet win. AU won eight of 12 events on the women’s side, and four of 12 for the men.
- The women got two individual wins from then-freshman, now junior Kate Williams, who took first in both the 200 meter free (2:12.45) and 400 meter free (4:35.68 7), winning the latter by seven and a half seconds.
- Current seniors Isabel McGovern and Dylan Moulton were both part of a win in the women’s 200 free relay. McGovern also had an individual win in the 50 fly.
- Diver Peyton Thurman, then a sophomore, took first place in the lone diving event, the 1-meter, with a score of 221.70.
2025-26 Highlights So Far
- The women’s team picked up its first dual meet win over UMBC in a close battle that came down to the last relay on Oct. 3, and the women have since won three more duals over Catholic, Howard, and Lafayette. The men’s team has dual meet wins over both Catholic and Lafayette.
- The Eagles had their most success at the George Mason Patriot Invitational since 2006, getting wins in three individual events. Senior Isabel McGovern won the women’s 100 and 200 fly, while sophomore Piper Crosby won the women’s 100 back. The women’s 800 free relay team of McGovern, freshman Lucy Penna, sophomore Fiona McMahon, and junior Kate Williams set a school record of 7:33.45. McGovern set an individual school record in the 200 free as part of that relay (1:50.61), and Crosby’s 100 back win came in a school-record 53.50.
- Sophomore Marin Priddy has been a swimmer to watch. She set a pool record in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:04.51 against UMBC, and posted both an individual and a relay win in a quad meet against Navy, Bucknell, and Lafayette. Priddy also won the 100 breaststroke in a dual meet at Georgetown.
- Crosby’s school-record 53.50 in the 100 back currently ranks second this season in the Patriot League, while her top time of 23.21 in the 50 free ranks fifth. Williams ranks third in the PL in the 1,650 free in 17:03.71.
- Sophomore Luke Martens won the 1000 freestyle against UMBC with a time of 9:47.52 and he was sixth in the 200 free in the quad meet at Navy. Freshman Gavin Shifflett took fourth in the 50 free at the Navy quad with a season-best time of 21.46.
- Freshman diver Alex Way posted a score of 274.50 on the 1-meter at Howard which ranks fourth all-time in program history, while his 3-meter score of 279.40 from the Navy quad meet ranks eighth all-time.
Senior Day Bios
Daniel Coughlin
- Butterfly specialist with the 11th-best personal record all-time in the 200 butterfly, and is also a part of four top-16 relays including the 400 medley with the second-best time in program history.
- As a junior he won three times in dual meets in the 100 and 200 fly.
- Last season, he posted one of the top 25 cumulative GPAs among all AU student-athletes.
- Biology major and a Patriot League Academic Honor Roll student.
Maggie Fanning
- Personal records rank 12th all-time at American on both the 1-meter and 3-meter.
- Psychology major and has been named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll each year since transferring to AU.
Colin Jue
- Events have included the 50 free, 100 free, 200 free, 200 IM, 400 IM, and 1000 free during his four years at AU.
- Swam a PR in the 1000 free at last season’s ECAC Championships.
- Public relations and strategic communication major.
Gabby Kaczorowski
- Holds top 16 times at American in the 100 fly and 200 IM, as well as in the 200 medley relay.
- For two years in a row, her cumulative GPA has been among the top 25 of all AU student-athletes.
- Neuroscience major and a three-time Patriot League Academic Honor Roll recipient.
Veronica Lester
- Butterfly specialist whose PR of 2:05.78 from the 2024 Patriot League Championships ranks ninth all-time in program history.
- Majoring in American Government and Justice and Law, and is a three-time Patriot League Academic Honor Roll recipient.
Isabel McGovern
- Captured two individual victories at the Patriot Invitational this past November while also setting an individual 200 freestyle school record as part of the school-record setting 800 free relay.
- Her name appears 22 times on AU’s all-time Top 16 lists including the second-fastest PR in the 100 fly, the third-fastest in the 200 fly, and the fourth-fastest in the 200 IM.
- Was a three-time individual finalist at last year’s Patriot League Championships and earned a win in the C final of the 200 fly.
- Psychology major and Patriot League Honor Roll student.
Madan Morris
- Butterfly specialist who has the program’s 12th-fastest PR in the 200 fly from last year’s Patriot Invitational.
- Has been a Patriot League Academic Honor Roll student every year as double major in psychology and business administration.
Dylan Moulton
- Has nine top 16 times in program history including school records in both the 200 free and 400 free relays.
- Her 50 free time of 23.89 from the 2024 Patriot League Championships ranks 10th all-time.
- Majoring in neuroscience and has been a Patriot League Academic Honor Roll student in each of her two full years at American so far.
Grace Netz
- Holds top eight PRs at American in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke, and was the C final winner in the 200 at last season’s Patriot League Championships.
- Psychology major and four-year Eagle who has been named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll each year.
Kai O’Malley
- Freestyle and butterfly specialist who has already posted times in seven different individual events for AU this season.
- Earned the team’s Student-Athlete Success Program Award last season, and has been a Patriot League Academic Honor Roll student each year as an information systems/technology major.
Peyton Thurman
- Her PR of 261.15 on the 3-meter ranks fifth all-time at American, while her 1-meter PR of 257.35 ranks sixth all-time.
- Has earned numerous dual-meet victories on both boards, and has been both a B and C finalist at the Patriot League Championships.
- Public relations and strategic communications major and a Patriot League Academic Honor Roll student each year.
Natalie Webb
- While her career has been hampered by injury, she has remained committed to helping the team in any way possible.
- Graduating in just three years with a degree in business administration, and is a Dean’s List student as well as a Patriot League Academic Honor Roll student.
