Ohio State football lands former SEC running back out of the transfer portal

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Former Florida running back Ja’Kobi Jackson is transferring to Ohio State after three seasons with the Gators.

He has 607 rushing yards and seven touchdowns in his collegiate career, with a majority of those numbers coming from the 2024 season.

Jackson (5-11, 214) signed with UF as a three-star junior college prospect in the 2023 recruiting class. He did not play as a freshman before having a bit of a breakout season in his second year.

Jackson ran for 509 yards and seven touchdowns in 2024. He opened the 2025 campaign with 98 yards across his first four games, but a season-ending injury cut his year short.

Jackson brings a much-needed veteran presence to a young running backs room in Columbus. The unit is led by Bo Jackson and Isaiah West — a pair of rising sophomores.

CJ Donaldson and James Peoples, a pair of contributors for Ohio State in 2025, left the program this offseason, with the former exhausting his eligibility while the latter transferred to Penn State.

Turbo Rogers, Legend Bay and Favour Akih are expected to factor into the rotation this year alongside Bo Jackson, Ja’Kobi Jackson and West.
