As of 1:28 p.m., visibility in Hastings was quickly reduced to less than one mile. Wood River also reported low visibility and falling snow.
Locations just miles away, including Grand Island, showed sunshine and no snow, which further showed that snow squalls cover a fairly localized area.
Travel may quickly become difficult and dangerous. Drivers should slow down, turn on headlights and be prepared for sudden whiteout conditions.
Social media posts from Nebraska law enforcement agencies and meteorologists show the dangerous conditions moving through the state.
