One dead, two injured in shooting near historic Treme restaurant, police say

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – One person died, and three others were injured in a shooting Friday evening (Jan. 16) near Dooky Chase Restaurant in the 2300 block of Orleans Avenue, New Orleans police said.

Police were called to the scene at about 8:01 p.m. and are investigating the incident as a homicide.
Four people were shot at the scene: two women and one man; the other is unidentified. One of the victims died at the scene.
A law enforcement source said the victims were inside the restaurant when a gunman opened the door and opened fire. The source said one of the injured victims was a tourist from out of state.
The source also says one victim was shot multiple times, and the other was shot in the back. Both victims are being treated at UMC.
