Dorian Williams suffers injury on opening kickoff against Denver Broncos

The Buffalo Bills lost linebacker Dorian Williams on the opening drive against the Denver Broncos. He made the tackle on the opening kickoff and then remained face down on the field. The backboard did come out but he was able to stand up and walk to the sideline with help. He rode the cart sitting up back to the locker room and was declared out quickly.

There is video of the injury here.

Williams is the team’s third linebacker, playing 38% of defensive snaps and 62% of special teams snaps last week against the Jaguars. He does act as a spy in the passing game from time to time, as well, so this could change how the Bills defend the pass in Denver.

Baylon Spector was the first man up in Williams’s place. Spector was placed on injured reserve during training camp, released with an injury settlement, and rejoined the Bills’ practice squad in October. He was signed to the active roster on January 10th before the game against the Jacksonville Jaguars with an injury to Terrell Bernard.
