Davies takes charge as Costelow makes his comebackpublished at 15:09 GMT
Northampton v Scarlets (15:15 GMT)
It’s been a strange week at Scarlets.
After the announcement that Nigel Davies would return to the club as interim director of rugby, it soon emerged he would be taking charge of selection, a development which has served to further ramp up the pressure on head coach Dwayne Peele.
Davies has at least been boosted for his opening selection by Wales fly-half Sam Costelow returning from injury. Costelow hasn’t played since the round two tie in Bordeaux in December because of an ankle injury picked up in training.
He comes in as one of three personnel changes from the dramatic 47-38 home defeat to Pau last Saturday. With Tom Rogers ruled out with a groin injury, Blair Murray switches to the wing and Jac Davies gets the nod at full-back.
With Costelow back at number ten, Joe Hawkins moves to inside centre and Eddie James to 13 in place of the injured Joe Roberts. Archie Hughes continues at scrum-half following his standout display last week.
Up front, Max Douglas returns from suspension to partner Jake Ball in the second row.
Scarlets: J Davies; Mee, James, Hawkins, Murray; Costelow, A Hughes; Mathias, Elias, H Thomas, Douglas, Ball, Plumtree, Macleod (capt), Anderson.
Replacements: Van der Merwe, Hepburn, Harri O’Connor, J Taylor, Davis, G Davies, Page, T Lewis.
