Gimme Him: Will Anderson Jr. would fill major need for Patriots

The New England Patriots are set to take on the Houston Texans in the AFC divisional round of the playoffs on Sunday. For this week’s Gimme Him player of the week, Texans defensive end Will Anderson Jr. would be my pick.
Anderson is a two-time Pro Bowler and First-Team All-Pro defender. He has recorded 28.5 career sacks in three seasons of play.

Anderson has proven to be an elite pass-rusher for the Texans’ defense. He has recorded 28.5 career sacks in three seasons of play. He had 54 tackles, 12 sacks, two fumble recoveries, three forced fumbles and three pass deflections in the 2025 season.
The Patriots could use a No. 1 edge rusher to put pressure on opposing quarterbacks. Their inability to get consistent pressure on the edge has been one of the few weaknesses for the defense this season. Adding a dominant playmaker like Anderson on the edge with both Milton Williams and Christian Barmore creating havoc in the middle would be a nightmare for opposing quarterbacks.
The Patriots have generally had to rely on creating pressure with schemed-up blitzes instead of depending on one player to beat his man. They would finally have a player of that caliber with Anderson on the field.
Unfortunately, they will have to spend their time game-planning against him instead. The Patriots’ offensive line will have its hands full when dealing with Anderson and a ferocious Texans defensive front.
