Rams make 3 roster moves ahead of Sunday’s game vs. Bears

The Rams are filling his roster spot by promoting an edge rusher from the practice squad

Sean McVay told reporters on Monday that Ahkello Witherspoon re-injured his scapula in Saturday’s win over the Carolina Panthers, ending his season. On Tuesday, the Los Angeles Rams made that official by placing the veteran cornerback on injured reserve.

They made two other roster moves, filling Witherspoon’s spot by signing edge rusher Nick Hampton to the active roster from the practice squad. Additionally, they brought back defensive back Alex Johnson to the practice squad, taking the spot left by Hampton’s promotion.

Witherspoon played just six games in the regular season and one in the playoffs, being a healthy scratch multiple times after injuring his scapula for the first time.

Hampton has been active for 12 games this season and has made 10 tackles, which is a career-high. He was waived in December and brought back a day later on the practice squad, being elevated twice since then.

It remains to be seen whether Hampton will be active on Sunday against the Bears.
