Sean McVay has one request for his assistants interviewing for HC jobs

Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay is no stranger to seeing his top assistants interview for roles with other teams. Several of his former assistants are now or were head coaches at other clubs, and more could be on their way with Chris Shula, Mike LaFleur and Nate Scheelhaase all receiving interview requests.
McVay is also used to being asked for advice from his assistants. But while he’s happy to talk about it, he asks one thing of those interviewing at other clubs:
“Don’t ask me about interview stuff when we’re in the middle of game planning,” McVay told The Athletic’s Jourdan Rodrigue.
McVay knows this time of the year can be a big opportunity for his acolytes, but he continues to reiterate that focus for them needs to be on the team they’re on now and the goal at hand: Winning a Super Bowl trophy.
That’s why Shula, LaFleur and Scheelhaase all waited until Friday after practice to do their virtual interviews. All the game planning had been finalized before the team traveled to face the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field on Sunday.
In-person interviews can be conducted after the divisional round ends starting on Monday, Jan. 19.
