Protesters attend church where Minnesota ICE official is a pastor

A Minnesota-based ICE agent is also a pastor at a church in St. Paul, where protesters interrupted service on Sunday, the Pioneer Press reports. The U.S. Department of Justice says it’s investigating.

A man arrested by ICE in Minneapolis on Jan. 6 has died in federal custody in Texas, reports KSTP-TV. Political leaders, including Gov. Tim Walz and Sen. Tina Smith, have called for an investigation.

A Liberian immigrant shared his story at a news conference over the weekend of ICE raiding his home in north Minneapolis, arresting him and flying him to Texas. MPR News reports Garrison Gibson had no record of serious crimes and that agents did not have a proper warrant to arrest him in the home. Realizing this, they flew him back to Minnesota, where his lawyers successfully argued for his release.
