Je’Von Evans injury update: Rising WWE star appears to hurt shoulder

WWE legend John Cena final match filled with tributes and praise

John Cena capped off his amazing, 23 year run in the WWE with one last match in Washington, D.C.

One of WWE’s rising stars suffered an injury as Royal Rumble season approaches.

Je’Von Evans appeared to suffer a shoulder injury during the Monday, Jan. 19 edition of WWE Raw in Belfast, Ireland. Evans was in a match with El Grande Americano, and it’s unknown what happened as the show was in a commercial break, but when it returned, Evans was outside of the ring and holding his right arm.

Announcer Michael Cole said the ringside doctor was checking in on Evans and shortly after, the match was called off as Evans wasn’t able to compete, making El Grande Americano the winner.

Afterward, Evans was taken backstage with the assistant of the ringside doctor and referee Jessika Carr. He held his right shoulder, indicating it is a legitimate shoulder injury.

While the severity is unknown, it could be a tough break for a star elevating on the WWE roster in one of the most critical parts of the wrestling calendar.

Evans has wowed ever since his debut in NXT in 2024, showing incredible athleticism and flying all around the arena, making “The Young OG” a promising prospect who regularly puts on great performances in every match.

Evans was just elevated to the main roster on Jan. 5, joining Raw. The promotion indicated there were plans to have Evans be part of the 2026 Royal Rumble match on Jan. 31, which kicks off WrestleMania season.

If the injury is one that sidelines him even for more than a few weeks, that could jeopardize Evans’ chances being part of WrestleMania 42, which would be his first appearance on WWE’s flagship event.
