LEGO’s latest foray into cute buildable brick animals is 11384 Golden Retriever Puppy, a brand new model from the LEGO Icons theme that’s set to be released on 1 February 2026.

This 2,102-piece model of a Golden Retriever Puppy stands 30cm (11.5 inches) tall, and is nothing short of adorable. It’s a perfect addition for fans of the popular dog breed, or if you want to introduce a rival to the 21349 Tuxedo Cat from LEGO Ideas.

11384 Golden Retriever Puppy will be released on 1 February 2026 and will be available from LEGO.com or your local LEGO Store, and can be pre-ordered online now.

LEGO isn’t a stranger to designing cute furry animals at this scale, as it’s already done so successfully with the likes of 21349 Tuxedo Cat, 43269 101 Dalmatians Puppy and 43247 Young Simba the Lion King which have all been warmly received by fans.

Standing at about 30cm (11.5 inches) tall, it’s roughly about the same height as all the other pets, but this is the first time that we’ve gotten a realistic puppy, instead of cartoon animals like 101 Dalmatians and Simba.

The Golden Retriever Puppy is extremely expressive, with a wide range of expressions and poses made possible by adding a tongue, different mouth movements, as well as the ability to raise its paw.

After conquering curves, LEGO’s next big challenge is to make its blocky aesthetic look like fur, and that has been achieved here with copious amounts of studs, and different layered slopes to give it a very ruff (heh) look.

I’m not an expert on dog breeds, but I have seen some people discuss its look online and say that it doesn’t quite look like a golden retriever and that it has more labrador-esque features, but I can’t really tell the two apart.

There are some fun little features, such as toe beans underneath its paws

The ability to move its large ears.

And also move its mouth, and add/detach a tongue to mix up the Golden Retriever’s look.

You can also store its tongue in its back – a technique that was pioneered by the 101 Dalmatians Puppy.

I think this looks quite cute, and with so many real photos instead of renders, I do have to say that it looks much better than official renders/box art.

For Dog people who refuse to support the other team and buy a 21349 Tuxedo Cat, it’s finally your time!

This is definitely a cute little build, and in some ways, I think its remarkable to see LEGO’s system in play mature in such a way. I will have more to say on what I think of the model in my review, so stay tuned for it!
