Chicago weather forecast, today: Arctic blast bring dangerous temps to Chicago area with negative wind chills on MLK Day holiday

CHICAGO (WLS) — An arctic blast moved into the Chicago area overnight, leaving behind a bitter cold on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

The day started with single digit temperatures with a wind chill of -7 degrees at O’Hare.

A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect until noon across the entire Chicago area and Northwest Indiana.

Wind chills could drop as low as -25 through Monday morning.

Gusty winds could blow snow around the area; wind gusts could be between 25 to 35 miles per hour.

The high on Monday is 10 degrees.

Overall, Chicago has a bitterly cold week ahead with highs not getting above the 20s.

Since Monday is a federal holiday, not many are commuting to work and or school.
