Brooklyn Beckham sets straight Victoria, Nicola wedding dress drama

Amid his scathing diatribe addressing rumors of a Beckham family feud, Brooklyn Beckham is setting the record straight about the issue starting over wedding dress drama.
Among a string of lengthy Instagram Stories on Monday, Jan. 19, the 26-year-old addressed allegations circulated in May that tensions between his wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham, and mom, Victoria Beckham, grew due to his mom not making his wife’s dress for their April 2022 wedding.
“My mum cancelled making Nicola’s dress in the eleventh hour despite how excited she was to wear her design, forcing her to urgently find a new dress,” he wrote.
Nicola Peltz Beckham, 31, would go on to wear a custom Valentino dress for her big day. According to a Vogue article at the time, the dress was the “culmination of a year’s worth of conversations” with the fashion house’s then-creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli, including two trips to the Valentino headquarters in Rome and two fittings stateside.
Months later Nicola, while insisting there was no “feud” with the Beckhams in an interview with the Sunday Times, attributed the rumors to her not wearing a Victoria Beckham design. The actress noted Victoria’s “atelier couldn’t make the dress in time.”
“But the real truth is, I really, really wanted to wear it and I thought it was so beautiful that Brooklyn’s mom got to make that for me,” she said at the time.
She had been seen in Victoria Beckham’s designs in the past, including at the 2024 premiere of her film “Lola,” which the actress wrote and directed.
USA TODAY has reached out to Victoria and David Beckham and Nicola Peltz Beckham’s representatives for comment.
There were also other familial issues over the couple’s big day.
“During the wedding planning, my mum went so far as to call me ‘evil’ because Nicola and I chose to include my Nanny Sandra, and Nicola’s Naunni at our table, because they both didn’t have their husbands,” he wrote. “Both of our parents had their own tables equally adjacent to ours.”
But Brooklyn, who also took Peltz’s name when he married her, said tensions actually came to a head over his parents allegedly attempting to financially coerce him – in what could be considered financial abuse, as described.
“Weeks before our big day, my parents repeatedly pressured and attempted to bribe me into signing away the rights to my name, which would have affected me, my wife, and our future children,” he added. “They were adamant on me signing before my wedding date because then the terms of the deal would be initiated. My holdout affected the payday, and they have never treated me the same since.”
Since the Peltz Beckhams married in April 2022, rumors have circulated about the state of their relationship with the Beckham clan amid scrutiny of the couple’s absence from family functions.
Victoria and David Beckham, who attended the couple’s wedding, were notably absent from their vow renewal in August. Brooklyn Peltz Beckham now says the renewal was “so we could create new memories of our wedding day that bring us joy and happiness.”
