Reading FC have confirmed the signing of Bristol City defender Haydon Roberts, for an undisclosed fee.
Arriving from Bristol City on a two-and-a-half-year deal, the 23-year-old is capable of playing anywhere across the back while predominantly featuring on the left-hand side.

“We’re delighted to welcome Haydon to the club on a permanent deal,” said Leam Richardson. “He’s a player we’ve been aware of for some time and someone we feel will be a really good fit for what we’re building here.
“He’s already made a decent number of appearances at Championship level, which says a lot about his ability and mentality. He brings athleticism and versatility, particularly down the left side, and we’re looking forward to getting him settled in quickly and seeing the impact he can make.”

Roberts agreed a three-year contract with Bristol City in 2023 after officially being released by Brighton & Hove Albion.

He came through the Seagulls’ Academy system from Under-13 and has had loan spells in League One with Rochdale (2020/21) and for Derby County (22/23), for whom he made 44 appearances in all competitions.
Since joining the Robins he has made 73 appearances across all competitions, scoring three goals and providing two assists.
