Portland Fire announces debut season schedule with help of Portlandia stars

PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) – The Portland Fire will open their 2026 season at home May 9 against the Chicago Sky, marking the franchise’s return to the WNBA after a 24-year-absence.
The team announced its full schedule on Wednesday, featuring 44 regular-season games, including 22 at Moda Center.
To unveil the 2026 schedule, Carrie Brownstein and Fred Armisen, stars of Portlandia, created short film titled, It’s Good to Be Back.

Portland will host seven weekend games and 15 weekday games at Moda Center. The Fire will make one international trip during the season, traveling to Vancouver, BC on Aug. 21 to face the Toronto Tempo at Rogers Arena. Tipoff for that game is set for 7 p.m. PT.
Portland will also compete in the Commissioner’s Cup for the first time. The in-season competition runs June 2-17 and includes seven games against Western Conference opponents that count toward the regular-season standings. The Fire will play four cup games at home, hosting Phoenix on June 5, Las Vegas on June 11, Dallas on June 13, and Seattle on June 17. The teams with the best Cup records in each conference advance to the championship game on June 30, competing for a $500,000 prize pool.
The WNBA All-Star Game is scheduled for July 25 at the United Center in Chicago.
