Coronation Street reveals speedy Lisa and Carla outcome – as the door closes on Becky

Coronation Street spoilers follow from Thursday’s episode (22 January), which is available to watch now on ITVX and YouTube but hasn’t yet aired on ITV1.
Coronation Street ends Lisa Swain and Carla Connor’s latest chapter of drama tonight – as they both agree to move on from the horrors of their Becky Swain ordeal. Despite an initial promise to take things slowly, it’s not long before the big Swarla reunion gets an official announcement at the Rovers Return.
Thursday’s episode opens with Lisa hungover after the chaotic events of the previous day. Lisa hit the bottle hard when she felt that Carla had snubbed her lunch invitation, but there was a ray of hope when Carla admitted that she still loved her.
In new scenes, though, a struggling Lisa is forced to confess that she remembers very little about what happened yesterday.
An amused Carla points out that they declared their undying love – leaving Lisa stunned to realise that they’re seemingly back together.

“It’s going to take a while, okay?” Carla clarifies. “Just so everything feels alright. And if we rush…”
Lisa replies: “No, no rush. Slow is fine.”
Despite this, Carla doesn’t want to move too slowly – inviting Lisa to join her upstairs.
Later, Carla shocks Lisa by boldly announcing their reconciliation to everyone at The Rovers – which includes the excited factory workers.

Carla points out that she’s not one for tip-toeing around when it comes to her approach to most situations – and her speedy reunion with Lisa is no exception.
It’s been a more hopeful time for Swarla recently, as manipulative Becky got her comeuppance when she was sentenced to 12 years in prison for her crimes. Amy Cudden, who played Becky, has since confirmed on social media that her recent prison-based scenes were her exit from the soap.
Meanwhile, teasing the next chapter recently, Coronation Street‘s producer Kate Brooks said: “They were engaged, so wedding bells are certainly ringing in the not-too-distant future, and they’ll get their happy ever after.
“They will get the chance to finally be free from Becky and be free from the drama that surrounded that story and be happy and content with each other. So it’s going to be a romantic spring for Carla and Lisa, which will make many people smile, I imagine!”
Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
