First Look At Jason Momoa As Lobo In ‘Supergirl’

Jason Momoa is set to play Lobo in the upcoming Supergirl film, and DC Studios just released a new teaser with a first look at the character.
Momoa is seen stepping out of his trailer and smoking a cigar. In the short clip, someone off-camera asks Momoa if he has any comments about playing Lobo, to which he says, “Finally.”
A couple of scenes featuring Momoa, playing Lobo, follow, with his characteristic laugh.

Last year, DC Studios co-head James Gunn teased Momoa’s performance as Lobo.
“On the anniversary of Lobo, I can’t help but think of a text I received from Jason Momoa on the morning it was announced Peter & I were the heads of DC Studios — the day Jason & I first discussed him joining the DCU as Lobo,” Gunn posted on X, the microblogging platform formerly known as Twitter.
Gunn continued, “I’ve loved watching Jason bring him to life & can’t wait to share that with all of you.”
In the text exchange, Momoa says, “fucking LOBO,” to which Gunn replies, “Dude I’ve said you should be Lobo for years, no lie.”

Deadline reported in December 2024 that Momoa had been tapped to play the antihero. Lobo, who has a violent and irreverent personality, hails from the planet Czarnia. He possesses superhuman strength, regenerative abilities, and an invulnerability that makes him a formidable opponent. Created by writer Roger Slifer and artist Keith Giffen, the character is often depicted as a bounty hunter who enjoys chaos and destruction.
Based on Tom King’s 2022 comic book series Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which Bilquis Evely illustrated, Ana Nogueira adapted the comic book for the big screen. In the comic, Supergirl and young alien girl Knolle travel across the galaxy to hunt Krem of the Yellow Hill after he kills Knolle’s father in cold blood.
