Ja Morant out vs. Pelicans with elbow sprain

Memphis has announced its long list of injuries, notably featuring Ja Morant.

The Grizzlies’ star point guard has been ruled out for Friday’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans, per the team on Thursday.

Morant missed six games with a calf injury before returning to the lineup this past Sunday in London vs. Orlando, scoring a game-high 24 points and 13 assists.

Morant had 23 points and 12 assists in Wednesday’s 124-122 to the Atlanta Hawks.

Now in his sixth NBA season, Morant is averaging 19.5 points and 8.1 rebounds in 20 games this year.

Morant has been a subject of trade rumours this season, but suggested this week that he prefers to stay in Memphis.

Also out vs. New Orleans are forward Santi Aldama (knee) and Canadians Brandon Clarke (calf) and Zach Edey (ankle).

Memphis is 18-24 and sits 11th in the Western Conference.
